Highgate is one of the strongest basement-fit areas because its topography can support lower-ground living space that opens onto a falling garden. That does not make every basement appropriate. The level change that creates opportunity also creates retaining, waterproofing, drainage and structural risk, so feasibility has to be grounded in the specific plot rather than a generic basement concept.
